Meet the team: Jiyoung Jung, creative project manager
Jiyoung tells us why she’s enthusiastic about infographics, how playing the piano helps to improve her concentration – and why she thinks a “positive attitude” has been key to Speak’s success.
Tell us about your role.
I am a creative project manager at Speak Media. My role on a day-to-day basis involves overseeing the production of multichannel content campaigns, putting together creative briefs and concepts to bring our clients’ ambitions to life – plus managing logistics relating to visual content creation.
What differentiates Speak from other content agencies?
The wide variety of content that we produce – from written features to videos to social assets. There’s a positive attitude among team members at Speak and I really think that contributes to our success.
Tell us about your career so far.
I studied film and media at Dongguk University, South Korea, and studied in the UK as an exchange student for one term. After graduating, I worked as an assistant director for a video production company in Seoul, which is where I grew up. I moved to the UK again in 2021, and I held several video editing roles before joining Speak.
What are you most looking forward to at Speak?
An exciting new animation project that I’m currently working on. I’ve really enjoyed researching ideas and collaborating with the team. It’s been so rewarding to see the project come to life.
What content trends bother you?
Augmented reality filters on apps and videos that change your appearance. The technology can be fun to play around with, but it should be used with caution.
What content trends are you enjoying at the moment?
On-screen infographics in videos. Nowadays, companies have become better at making sure their content is educational, informative and helpful for their audiences.
What has been the most rewarding part of your role so far?
Finding out that I’m capable of so many tasks – whether it’s contributing to written briefs or overseeing projects on my own. It’s been really fulfilling.
Tell us about your hobbies.
I love playing the piano, especially work by the Polish composer Chopin. I find it really helps me improve my concentration levels.
I also like to learn more about maths and science – I’m really keen to stay up to speed with the latest trends and developments.
How do you unwind in the evenings?
Whether I’m in Seoul or London, I like going to karaoke in the evenings. I usually sing something that I can shout, such as songs by Imagine Dragons or Ariana Grande. It’s a great way to let off steam after a day at work.
