A user experience boost for your brand newsroom

Have you acclimatised to a content layout that doesn’t really work for your target audience? Don’t neglect user experience. Consider implementing these five changes that could make a real difference for your readership.

Keeping your newsroom audience engaged isn’t just about the quality of the content you produce. It’s also about the way you share it.

Here are five quick wins to enhance user experience (UX) that you may not have implemented yet.

  1. Add read times: How long will people need to dedicate to your content? An estimated read time can encourage busy readers (who actually do have a few minutes to spare) to tackle your latest long-form feature.

  2. Key takeaways: This can be called the ‘TLDR’ of the corporate content world. Summarise key messages at the start of the article to help readers work out if it’s worth their time – and build audience trust.

  3. Audio narration: This feature is increasingly available on media platforms and corporate newsrooms alike. The option to listen to written articles enhances accessibility and ensures audiences can engage with content in their preferred format.

  4. Author and interviewee bios: Who is the person behind the writing? Spotlight your thought leaders’ expertise and help authors and audiences connect.

  5. Mobile optimisation: It should go without saying, but we bet a large proportion of your stakeholders are looking at your site on their phones. Be sure to factor in different devices when reviewing your content layout.
